Ashes and goodbyes

They just passed and the cremation is tomorrow. What can I do for them before then, and how do I say a proper goodbye?

Before the cremation, keep them somewhere cool, stroke them and talk to them, let each family member say goodbye, and you can keep a clipping of fur.

A real example

In Huancayo, Peru, a man held a three-day wake at home for his dog after it died of an illness, with candles and flowers on the table. Family, friends, neighbors and his other dogs came, and he stroked its head and said, "I love you, I will always remember you."
