Where did they go?

What does it mean when I dream about them?

Dreaming about them is common. In studies, about 60 to 80 percent of owners did, and the pet usually looked healthy and happy. Whether you dream of them is linked most to how well you remember dreams in general.

A real example

A 2025 study in the journal Dreaming looked at 199 people who had lost a dog or cat within six months. 59.3% had dreamed of their pet in the past month. Those who dreamed were also more likely to sense the pet while awake (39% vs 22.5%).
